The Supreme Court's recent decisions have effectively gutted the Voting Rights Act, a crowning achievement of the Civil Rights Movement. Now what? Some Southern states are already redrawing maps to erase districts that have helped elect Black representatives. Other districts represented by minority officials may be on the chopping block.
Join Alice B. Toklas LGBTQ Democratic Club and the Fénix Democratic Club for a conversation on what this means for representation in our democracy and how we can get back on a road towards a New Reconstruction. Panelists will share stories of inspiration they've drawn from minority elected officials nationwide that have benefitted from VRA districts. We will also discuss how we think the Democratic Party can work to uplift people of all backgrounds for generations to come.
